STARTER KIT FOR NEWLY ADMITTED DPT STUDENTS 2: KNOW IREE BETTER.

Ospoly Main Campus Gate

So, we started giving orientation to the DPT Freshmen as regards the necessary things they need to know about Ospoly and Iree Town which we felt we ease their stress as Freshmen.

Today, we want to answer some FAQs(Frequently Asked Questions) about Iree Town. Read through and learn accordingly.

1. HOW MUCH IS TRANSPORT FARE IN IREE?

Unlike the city or village you come from where there are shuttles and cabs, especially Lagos people with Danfos and BRT, Iree is a small populous town with few roads and many streets and the mode of Transportation is majorly Motorcycles(Okada/Bikes). Which means, anywhere you are going, you can only go via bike.

As accepted by the Motorcycle Association in Iree, the Fixed Transport Fare is N50 and above(depending on your destination). However, if your destination is not far, you can 'beg' the Okada man to collect N40 from you(but this doesn't happen all the time).

Also, the maximum number of people a bike can carry for commercial purpose is 2, as agreed by the association and when two people are boarding a bike, the fare can reduce and the bike man can agree to give discount of N10-N20 (Also, this doesn't happen every time).

2. HOW MANY BANK(S) IS/ARE IN IREE?

Good question! As of now, there are two major banks in Iree and they are UBA and Access Bank(Diamond). Access Bank resumed operation in Iree in 2019 since it acquired Intercontinental Bank many years ago.

The Banks are located along the Polytechnic Junction.

3. WHAT IF I WANT TO WITHDRAW?

UBA has 5 or 6 ATM Machines but yet, always filled with host of students who want to withdraw money especially before Access Bank began operation. Access Bank on the other hand has 4 ATM Machines (as at November, 2019.)

Zenith Bank also strategically placed their 2 ATM Machines at the Main Campus Gate but this Machines do not operate every time.

Based on the population of the students in Iree, the ATM terminals are always crowded and some students resolve into using POS Machines to save their time.

The choice of withdrawal method is yours.

4. ARE THERE CAMPUS FELLOWSHIPS?

For a Christian Brother or Sister, Followship is undeniable and so it is for Muslim Brethren too.
For Christians, there are many Fellowships you can worship at such as BSF (BAPTIST), CACYOF, TACSFON, FSF (FOURSQUARE), GSF (GOFAMINT), MSF METHODIST), RCF (REDEEMED), amongst others. However, these Fellowships are not located on Campus but outside the school premises. Also, there are Churches too, Sanders Memorial Baptist Church hosts a whole lot of students from all denominations. In fact, 90% of the over 300 members of the Church are students. There are others such as, Salem Baptist Church, First Baptist Church, African Church, Redeemed Christian Church of God, Living Faith Church, amongst others.

For Muslims, as much as I know, They worship at White Mosque at Poly Junction and also, another Mosque on Campus along Arts and Design Department, and also, as at February 2019, a Mosque is being constructed at the KOKO Campus for the DPT students.

5. ARE THERE CLUBS?

For the fun loving ones, there are clubs, bars and places you can hangout...
Club Havanah is along Main Campus.
Basfad is along Estate Road and it has a pool facility.
Oscabis is along Small London.
Ambassador Hotel,
Blue House and Plastona.

I believe those places are good for hangouts based on people's reports.

6. WHAT ABOUT RESTAURANTS?

Hmmm, for food lovers, the only  city type Restaurant in Iree is Captain Cook and it is located along Poly Junction.

However, there are other places you can have nice meals both on Campus and off Campus.
Yakoyo is along Estate Road.

Also, I believe there are places at KOKO Campus where you can have nice meals too.

7. IS THERE A MARKET IN IREE?

C'mon, Iree is not a village now (in fact, villages even have small markets). Yes, there is a major market in Iree and I do not think there is another market apart from the main market.

The market hosts variety of sellers ranging from people who sell Vegetables to Food Stuffs to Wears and all sorts. In fact, anything you want, just go to the market.

The  market is named AARE MARKET after the Iree King Title. The market opens daily however, it hosts at least 300 sellers of varieties every 5 Days(That is, 5 Days Interval) and on such days, you get things cheaply and in excess.

En en, quick gist, you need not to go to market to get your stuffs again as long as they are what students are selling... OspolyBuzz has innovated the first ever eCommerce platform in Ospoly where you can just order for things you need from fellow students who are selling them. In fact, the stress has been reduced for you. If you are a seller or a buyer, kindly click HERE to know more.
