Today in History: HOPE elected as the SUG President for the 2018/2019 Academic Session.

The New Generation of Students might not know the tall guy with bushy hair who was known for his oratory prowess and awesome ideas. The guy who was an Accounting student and The guy who hailed from Ikinyinwa, Ilesha, Osun State.

The emergence of Hope as the Union President was as a result of many factors which include the following...

1. Oratory Prowess: Students want their foremost leaders to be outspoken. Hope, undoubtedly has this quality in abundance. During those days, people were always ready to listen to him.

2. The Coalition: The current political disposition Ospoly now has was first brought to light during Hope's candidacy. The Elders of 5 Faculties joined forces together to break the dominance of Faculty of Science in Unionism and yes, Faculty of Information and Communication Technology also was a victim of the then coalition.

The 5 Faculties include, FFS, FMS, FENG, FES, Vocational Studies.

The Coalition worked because of the massive population these Faculties pulled.

3. Hope's Resuscitation Ideas: I believe many would agree with me that Hope had ideas to resuscitate The Union compared to his colleagues he was running with then (No downcasting intended on Egghead and Clinton). Many believe that Hope would definitely change the trajectory of things in The Union hence, the massive support to make him become The President.


4. His Personality: The way Hope presented himself to the Electorates made him get loved by every Tom, Dick and Harry on Campus and even in Iree at large. During those days, when you get to Poly Junction, The Market Women would always shout HOPE. The Bikemen were not left out. There were many who became Hope Fanatics simply because they just love the way he has presented himself to the world.


5. His Team:
Talk of who had a Working Team of Brilliant Minds, Hope surely was one. His Team Members were people who had understanding of the political system on Campus. They came with Ideas that surely made his emergence possible.

They held meetings almost every day to share ideas and all. In his Team, unimaginable positions were available and he left no stone unturned.

6. Who Knows, maybe his Name gave him some luck...
He came with the  Political Name, HOPE. Somehow, I want to believe that his name even had a part in his emergence.
