Ospoly SUG President, HOPE inaugural message to Ospolites

The Inaugural Ceremony of the 2018/2019 set of Leaders of The Student Union Government  of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree was conducted on October 4th, 2018 where the newly elected union leaders were duly sworn in after they've all read the oath of allegiance of service to the Union.

The program, which was graced by Campus Stakeholders and other invited union leaders of other institutions in Osun State sees the newly elected and sworn in president of the Union, Bolaji Olaniyi Ezekiel known as HOPE gave his inaugural message to the students he serves as leader on.

BEING THE PRESIDENTIAL SPEECH DELIVERED ON THURSDAY 4TH OF OCTOBER BY COMRADE BOLAJI OLANIYI EZEKIEL (HOPE) AT THE INAUGURAL CEREMONY OF THE STUDENTS UNION LEADERSHIP OF OSUN STATE POLYTECHNIC IREE.

All heads of Departments,

The representative of Media Houses,
Representatives of Osun State Government,
The Leadership of Committee For the defence of Human Right both National and state,
National Association of Nigerian Students
Distinguished guests,
Comrades within and outside Osun State,
Colleagues,
Ladies and gentlemen,
All other protocols duly observed.

It's a big privilege to be among you in what will go down in history in our own citadel of
learning, Osun State Polytechnic, Iree.

I am here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust bestowed on me, mindful of our resounding call to serve, it will be ungrateful if I fail to render my  doxology to the Almighty who had made this day possible, even in the face of pessimism.

When all hopes were lost and thrown to despair, he proved himself as the most
benevolent, even when the world discharged her decibels of frustration, he sounded the
gong of charity which of course sustained the struggle and usher in a remarkable occasion
like this.

Today again we have gathered before our forebears to mark another irrigation to
the union bequeathed to us from the sweat and labour of our students martyrs who had
withstood all odds and hurdles, defied all intimidations and even conceded their lives to
the students welfares and conserve the standards, true values and the enduring spirit of a true students unionism, today as we gather for this inaugural occasion, we bear witness to the enduring strength of students unionism, as this form another epoch in the annals of students unionism in Osun state polytechnic, iree.

Our massive turnout on the 31st May 2018 to exercise our franchise indeed signposted our tiresome for anarchy, exhibition of our readiness for true liberation and absolute freedom of our body and soul, For everyone who partook either passively or actively in the struggle, you're indeed a watershed to the development of our Great Union.

I cannot but acknowledge my co-contestants, Hon Alapa Oladapo Samson a.k.a
Clinton and Hon. Ademola Oluwatoyin Emmanuel (a.k.a) Egghead for making the race challenging but devoid of violence, we have indeed demonstrated to the future that we
can engage in politics without the usual bloodshed, and that politics of violence belongs to the past, as we have symbolizes to the world that in our contemporary state, a true politician is expected to give its best to strategies and not violent, this we have
demonstrated, I must, however, maintain that "No Victory No Vanquished" and our
victory shall always be certain like the rising of the sun.

I wish everyone realizes that this school is our school and contributing our quota
to its development is a must for all of us.

STATE OF THE UNION.

For quite sometimes, our union has been held hostage under a high deal of complacency, sheer ineptitude, inertia, repugnant egocentricity, and obnoxious intimidation, this made our union wept and wallowed under the manacles of oppressive decrees, indeed the silent forces that have eaten deep into the system hence, consumed us directly and indirectly, this has been the chronicles of turbulence over the past years, to assert that we are bequeathed with a scathed structured union is an axiomatic fact which cannot be refuted nor controverted, the hallmark of our campaign which formed the propellant mantra that fuelled the struggle "Rebranding the union" was borne out of the calamitous shenanigans which have diminished the dignity, reduced the trustworthiness and daggered the pride of our students union for a couple of years, therefore today I stand to announce that the era for Scientific Struggle For Freedom has come, which will lead to the liberation of all.

We will refuse to pitch our political tent with sycophants and hypocrites. Once again I reiterate that the stale political structure which has for so long absorbed truth and
undermines the principles of natural justice will no longer have their ways. for clarity
purpose, I re-emphasize that my lead administration is set to expunge the demons of political terror, vices of intimidation and culture of silence, however, our administration shall align with upright and progressive activists both on campus and outside, for I am of the conviction that our alignment will bring about the formation of a front capable of solving all human Problems.

As a lover of peace, I want to quickly maintain that it is unkind and unfair for students union alone to be charged with the role of ensuring peace on campus, it should be the efforts of all stakeholders that form a community. i.e. the management, State government, Community and the student body.

Sequel to the above we huge all stakeholders to always be magnanimous enough to concede to superior arguments for this will be the preconditions for our peaceful coexistence.

STUDENTS WELFARE

 The welfare of the students of this institution shall be paramount to this administration and the following areas will be highly paramount to this administration, health, prices of goods and services on campus and transportation system.

This is the time we must not close our eyes and shut our minds off the economic realities of our state which obviously does not favour proletariat, a class which dominates the larger percentage of the students patronizing this institution, here is to alert us that this is a time we must all hold ourselves by the bootstrap to persevere together, to endure together and to survive together, hence, the need for all trade associations and all relevant quarters on campus to be ready to adjust in their scale of burden as we will constitute a price regulatory committee which will in the offing be announced to public notice.

Moreso, we say enough to our transportation travails within and outside campus, this uncomfortable situation has sounded a clamorous call on an intra-campus
transportation system, it is on this note that I will crave with the Polytechnic authorities
as a students-welfare driving management to as a matter of exigency extend support to
this project.

Furthermore, I must call the attention of the Polytechnic authorities to the endemic, rife
and appalling syndrome of "Alternative to practical" which has stayed far too long, we
found it frankly barbaric and condemn it as staled, as students of our institution now crams practical like the scriptures rather than engaging and fortifying them on practical
activities which will equip them for the task ahead in the larger society, it is of little wonder, when our laboratories are nothing to write home about in terms of updated reagents, apparatuses and equipment that can foster pragmatism and enable us achieve
excellence in technology, today, end must come to this insanity, as the irony fall short of an institution that claimed excellence in character and technology, we feel demanding a working environment for practical engagements and functioning laboratories is not too much to ask.

This administration shall urge staffs of the polytechnic to maintain perfect students
and staffs relationship.

I want as well beseech our academic staffs not to provide course material which falls below the expected standard, for this administration believe so much in value for Money paid for services.

This administration shall equally frown at cultism and any attempt of assault or
harassment of all sort against the students of the institution, for we are of the belief that
we are all people of one body and nobody is bigger than anybody.

More so, this is a time that paramilitaries must honour their true creed and call for service and not stoop to intimidate, extort or oppress students as the case may be, any attempt of such shall spring us to take legal actions against any organization or persons involving itself in a matter related as mention above.

To all corporate bodies on and outside campus, the time has come for you to start giving
back to the society; we will not entertain nor concede to any excuse of any form, as an
attempt to dodge your corporate social responsibilities shall not be appreciated, we lift up our hopes with your cooperation.

My fellow executives, our challenges may be new; the instrument with which we meet them may be news, but those values upon which our success as a union depends quality, honesty, courage, hardworking, loyalty, patriotism, and intellectuality.

These things are old, these things are true, they have been the quiet force of progress throughout our history as union. We are of the firm knowledge that nothing is so satisfying to the spirit, so defining our character than giving our best to difficult task.

MESSAGE OF HOPE 

Great Ospolites!!! Our question today borders on whether our union serves us well or
not, whether our union bears in mind the sufferings and pains of all Ospolites or not,
however, today I reaffirm our stance to the propellant mantra of "Hope has come! Light has come!" that although we are confronted with multifaceted and myriads of problems
but if ameliorating this problems requires crawling, we shall crawl, if it requires walking, we shall walk, if it requires running, we shall run, if it requires flying, we shall strengthen
our wings the more, this is to affirm that no amount of sacrifice on my end is enough to
ensure the atmosphere on campus is favourable and pleasing to the entire Ospolites, as I answer this trumpet call of service that I do not grudgingly accept, but which I with faith and purest heart of serving your interest all accept, reaffirm that if exhausting the '2Cs' of aluta which is consultation and consolidation, is not enough, we shall not hesitate to redeploy our strength in utilizing our last resort of the 3rd C-Confrontation, as I hope that one day we shall all have a system where we wouldn’t have to sing aluta continua in pain but Victoria ascertain in gain, as I also hope that one day all Ospolites shall all live in the Ospoly of their dreams, in the same vein, the task ahead is great, we must all realize that in the boat of achieving all this, your cooperation and our unity of purpose cannot be undermined.

The task before us is highly Herculean: for the students union government is indeed a huge project, but I use this medium to solicit in advance for support from the management, alumni association, corporate Bodies and repute individuals.

I see a better Nigeria,
I see a thriving Osun State
I see a greater Osun State Polytechnic, Iree
Keep waxing Stronger Ospoly Student Union.
